Our Volunteer Board of Directors:

Candace Raymond (Chair)

Member Since 2005

Owner and operator of BANJA Solutions, a small business based company providing administrative support, web design and maintenance as well as print media design. Candace was a volunteer with Hospice Caledon from 2003, involved with programs for youth, bereavement and fundraising. Candace also drives a school bus in Caledon, as well as volunteering for a number of other local non-profit organizations within the Greater Toronto area, working primarily with youth.

Barbara Pidcock (Vice Chair)

Barbara runs HSSolutions Inc. - a consulting company that assists health service providers to find system-wide solutions to their service delivery issues. In addition to her board membership at Hospice Caledon, Barbara is a member of the board of LAMP Community Health Centre in South Etobicoke. Barbara worked closely with the Hospice when she was with the Ministry of Health – she had advised Executive Directors about administration and budget issues since 1998. She has a strong commitment to hospice palliative care.

Brian Braun CA, a partner of the MacGillivray Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors team since 1974, is responsible for providing accounting, assurance and business advisory services to a wide variety of clients. He spends most of his time working with owner-managed businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

Nora Paradis
(Secretary)

Nora Paradis is a senior Human Resources Professional with over 20 years experience of progressive corporate and
operations management experience. Nora has expertise in employment/labour relations, talent management,
compensation and benefits as well as health and safety. Nora has extensive experience in the not for profit and health care sectors. Nora is currently the Director of Human Resources at SickKids Foundation.
Nora holds a Masters of Industrial from Queen’s University as well as Specialized Honours Degree in Public Policy and Administration from York University. She is also a member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario

Mark Rush

Lawyer practising in Georgetown who specializes in several areas of law including family, real estate and commercial law. Mark is a welcome addition to the board based on his legal expertise and strong commitment to numerous non-profit organizations.

Nora Martin

Member Since 2009

Nora Martin (Board member 2009) worked 30 years in the food industry. Positions: Technical & Purchasing, GM Central Region, VP Operations and Sr.V.P. UFL Foods. Boards, RIBO, Canadian Spice Assoc. Pres. Chair RBAC of AAFC. Currently also volunteers at the Caledon Seniors Recreation Centre

Dr. David Mowat

Member Since 2010

Dr. David Mowat is Medical Officer of Health for Peel Region.

Previous to his current position, he was one of three Deputy Chief Public Health Officers, fulfilling particular responsibilities for strengthening public health practice, and for the Agency's activities in regional offices across Canada.

Dr. Mowat has been the Director General, Office of Public Health Practice with responsibilities for surveillance systems, knowledge translation, the development of the public health workforce, and public health information policy, privacy and law.

Dr. Mowat joined Health Canada in 1998, moving to the Public Health Agency of Canada in 2004. Previous appointments include Consultant in Maternal and Child Health in the Public Health Branch of the Government of Newfoundland, Medical Officer of Health for Kingston and area (where he also taught in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology and the School of Policy Studies at Queen's), and Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario.

Dr. Mowat received his medical training in the UK, at the University of Edinburgh, and a master's degree in public health from the University of California at Berkeley. He is also a fellow in community medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is an adjunct faculty member at Queen's and the University of Ottawa.

 

Kevin Junor

Member Since 2011

Kevin's education includes a theology degree, and a civil engineering diploma, and his list of awards is nine deep, including the Order of Military Merit and a Chief of Defence Staff Commendation.

He brings to the table 24 years in the Ontario public service, as well as local, provincial and national working groups and 30 years in the Canadian Forces Reserves.

Kevin currently sits on the Policing Advisory Council Caledon, Canadian Force National Advisory Group, and Board of Directors - Provincial Alliance Credit Union, as well a a number of other community initiatives throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Elaine Chemeris

Member Since 2011

Elaine has been in health care since for over 30 years and has had various roles and over 15 years of senior management experience.

Curently – Director of Cardiovascular, Cancer, Renal, Medicine, Palliative and Seniors at WOHS. Prior to that she had a variety of roles at Hamilton EHalth Sciences over 16 years which included Director of Neurosciences & Trauma and Director of Emergency & Pre-Hospital Services.

She graduated from George Brown College in 1975, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1995 from McMaster University and her Master of Nursing from the university of Toronto in 1999. She holds a Clinical Faculty Appointment as Professor with McMaster University in the Faculty of Nursing since 2000.

Elaine was an executive board member of the Victoria Order Of Nurses for 2 years from 2002 – 2004.

Hobbies include working on her private pilot’s license, sky-diving and visitng her daughter in Australia on an annual basis. She also plays the piano and guitar..
