Hospice Caledon - Bethell House

Hospice Caledon is building a 10 bed residential hospice - Bethell House - to provide End-of-Life Care to residents of Caledon and neighbouring communities.

Bethell House residential hospice will accommodate a growing need for a choice in compassionate end-of-life care that is neither home nor hospital.

Well into construction, the dream is becoming a reality!

Undertaking a project of this magnitude has taken years of hard work and determination by many people. Construction is well underway, with a goal to open it's doors to residents in the late 2009.

Hospice Caledon Capital Campaign

Progress Report

To ensure that the vision of Bethell house becomes a reality, we have embarked on a campaign to raise $8 million to supplement the Bethell donation and government support.  This will guarantee that Bethell house is built with quality and Hospice Caledon's operations will be sustained over the long - term for future generations.

Thus far in our Campaign we have raised over $6 million of our $8 million goal.

Admission to Bethell House

Some specific criteria have been developed for admission to Bethell House.  The home is free of charge  and open primarily to residents of Caledon and surrounding areas.  Admission is predicated on a life expectancy of less then three months. Priority will be given to those living alone or having trouble coping.

Bethell House Staffing:

The key to achieving the mission of providing the highest standard of hospice care is the seamless integration of a multi-disciplinary team.  Family members, physicians, specially trained hospice staff, registered nurses, personal support workers and other professionals will form a network of care and support for the client and family at Bethell House.

Bethell House Location:

Bethell house will be centrally located in the heart of Caledon, on the Niagara Escarpment in the picturesque village of Inglewood.  It will be situated on four acres of land close to the Bruce trail;  a tranquil, beautiful and natural setting for our home.

Bethell House Architecture:

Bethell house will have ten private bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom and double pull-out bed to enable family or care givers to spend the night if desired.  Glass doors will allow entry to the outdoors providing both privacy and easy access for pets.  Bethell house will also have a large country kitchen, two gorgeous sunrooms, a spacious living room with a fireplace, a playroom for children and a library.  These lovely rooms will give family members a place to be alone, to meditate or just take time for reflection.

Volunteer Opportunities:

There is always a need for hospice volunteers.  A wide range of volunteer opportunities are supported by specialized training.  Please contact our Manager of Volunteers at 905-951-3534 to discuss the best fit for you.

How Can You Help?

There are many ways you can help make Bethell House a reality.  Each and every gift is unique, special and most appreciated.  If you are interested in making a donation please contact the Hospice Caledon office at 905-951-3534 for further information or email our Capital Campaign Coordinator.
