Grief Support Programs

Hospice Caledon offers Bereavement Support Group programs to the community and to family members of our clients.

We hold periodic 10 week support group programs, as well as a regular monthly drop-in grief support group.

Multi-Generational Grief Support Group

A 6 session grief support group for members of the same family and /or grieving persons of diverse ages.

This Program implements art, activities, and games that are designed so that individuals of all ages can participate in the same group and be challenged at their unique intellectual, emotional, and psychogical levels. It promotes that sharing of feelings among family members who are confronting the same grief from different angles.

Sessions are co-faciliated by experienced group leaders, and are free of cost, with all materials supplied. The sessions are 1 1/2 hours long and run evenings from 7:00pm - until 8:30pm or as arranged. The minimum age for a participant is 8 and their is no maximum. Adolescent Grief Support Group

An 8 session grief support for adolescents.

This Program implements art, activities, and games that are designed so that individuals of all ages can participate in the same group and be challenged at their unique intellectual, emotional, and psychogical levels. It may appeal to a group of friends experiencing grief over the death thorugh accident, suicide, or illness of their mutual friend/peer.

Sessions are co-facilitated by experienced group leaders, and are free of cost, with all materials supplied. The sessions are 1 1/2 hours long and run evenings or late afternoon as arranged. This is for participants of highschool age (13 - 18 years of age).

A minimum of 4 participants to a maximum of 8 is required.

H.U.G.s Children's Program

"Helping Understand Grief" is a program of six one-hour sessions for children to help them to express themselves and work through the numerous emotions that accompany the grieving process.

Each Session is designed with four major components: Bereavement, emotions, progress, and continuing. The four components are incorporated into many activies per session that encourages the children to express themselves. THese activites allow the children to help each other realize that they are not alone as they work through the grieving process.

Materials are supplied and run evenings from 7:00pm - until 8:00pm. A minimum of three participants are required - to a maximum of 8 participants.
